For one day this week, I posted four Instagram posts throughout the span of the 24-hour day. My Instagram posts included two TBT’s, a campus photo and a fashion photo – basically, they’re photos that I would typically post on a daily basis. Using many hashtags including #art110f14, and emoticons, I got to see other Instagram photos the whole class posted throughout the day. After looking at the photos that we were required to post, all of the photos were very different, yet with many similarities.

Everyone posted their own personal photos that related to their lives, which included what they ate throughout the day, what they wore, what they were doing, where they were at, and much more! Some similarities included, TBT’s because it was Thursday, campus photos (specifically “Week of Welcome” that took place that day or other “back to school/HW”), and classmate interviews.

After viewing my classmate’s required photo posts, it’s interesting to see that although we’re all different, and post very different things, there’s somewhat of a similarity as to the type of posts and trending topics that we like to share, for example, TBT, classmate interviews, selfies, food, etc. Although we were required to post these four photos, we all posted based on what we wanted to post at that moment, and not necessarily posting a specific thing because we had to.

Instagram has become one of the most influential social media platforms out there, and it’s a great art medium. It’s great that we’re able to capture moments in our everyday lives, and share them with our family, friends and others who follow our adventures.
